Tsotsi

Tsotsi

Tsotsi is a young bull in the National Kruger Park (KNP), who developed rapidly during the last couple of years. While his tusks were initially already quite heavy, they did not grow in length for a relatively long time. Surprising to many who regularly sighted him, Tsotsi’s tusk length almost doubled in a very short amount of time; a notable real growth spurt. As a result, he is now amongst the larger bulls of the part and with the potential of becoming one of the next generation of big tuskers of the KNP.

Tsotsi, which means “sneaky” and “trouble maker,” was named after the ranger Ampie Espag, who is also known for his cheeky habits. The name seems very fitting as the elephant has been seen to destroy fences around the camp and staff villages…
