Teddy

Teddy, the calf of Torn Ear was born in 1966 and observed and recorded by the scientist and researcher Cynthia Moss for Amboseli Trust for Elephants. It was in the early 80’s that he was nearing independence and was observed being rarely present within the so-called T- family. Males of that age tend to come and go during the year or so before leaving their family for good, and their presence or absence changes the size and composition of the group from sighting to sighting. Teddy grew to be a spectacular bull with impressive tusks.

Born and educated in the U.S.A., Cynthia Moss moved to Africa in 1968 and she has lived and worked for wildlife there ever since. Her involvement with elephants began in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania where she worked with Iain Douglas-Hamilton on his pioneering elephant study.
