Madolo

Madolo

Madolo is the 3rd prize winner of the 2007 Emerging Tuskers Competition (a project of the Kruger National Park), which calls out for help to find remarkable emerging tuskers.

The bull’s name came about through Johan Kloppers; a ranger who has been working in the Kruger National Park (KNP) for 36 years. Johan’s interest in long distance walks triggered his nickname “Madolo;” meaning “knee’s”. Quite suitably, when the elephant Madolo was seen on one of his many long distance walks, his name seemed to have been a natural fit.

A photographic series and comprehensive data qualified him for entering the Emerging Tuskers Competition of 2007.
