A few days ago we received worrying news about Ulysses, a famous Amboseli elephant. Speared several times before, he was found this month in a great amount of pain. Alerted Big Life Foundation, further supported by Kenya Wildlife Service and The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, treated him for a very deep and serious wound that went all the way to the joint, caused by a sharp object – probably another spear.
The prognosis was not great and due to large amounts of rain since the treatment, it was impossible to get around the area to check up on him. However, luckily, the rangers spotted him last Thursday with a herd of elephants and he seemed to be in much better shape already. Fingers crossed he will make it from here!
